Ramona Dalphine Mathis' Obituary
Ramona Rowe was born November 23, 1960 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ray D. Rowe and Barbara Clark. Ramona was the youngest of three children, with two older brothers (Dwight Clark and Tyrone Dinkins). She was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she grew up and attended Dunbar Elementary, Woods Elementary, Cleveland Junior High and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Ramona was a very active young woman and was involved in several extracurricular activities. She was a cheerleader, band member and played the flute, voted BTW Basketball Queen and an amazing songstress. After graduation, she went to Texas Southern University, in Houston, Texas and majored in Physical Therapy/Biology. That is where she met the love of her life Reginald (Reggie) Mathis. Reggie literally swept her off her feet and from the union; three amazingly wonderful children were born (Courtney, Cortland and Corrin). Ramona later continued her education at Southern Nazarene University where she received her Bachelor of Science (BS) and her Master of Science in Management (MSM).Ramona was a virtuous woman, devoted wife and mother with strong family values. She loved and adored her Mother, Barbara, as she was her best friend. She admired her brother, Tyrone, they were very close. Her three children were her life, they meant the world to her. She also cherished her four grandchildren (Rashad, Joshua, Zuri & Damian (Milo). They were her HEARTBEAT.She was preceded in death by her eldest brother Dwight Clark, her maternal grandmother, Elvie Vann, her paternal grandmother, Odessa Stokes, step-sister, Debra Ross, mother-in-law, Rosie Lee Mathis and grandmother-in-law Willie Mae Boyd.Ramona accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age; and her faith remained strong until Thursday, July 11, 2019, where she gained her wings and took her rest with the love of her life, Reggie there by her side. Those left to uphold her legacy and cherish her memories: her husband, Reggie, their three children, Courtney, Cortland, and Corrin, her mother, Barbara Grayson, her father, Ray D (Mary Jane) Rowe, her brother, Tyrone (Diane) Dinkins, her sister/cousin, Glenda (Denorvice) Howard, Della (Steve) Gilford, step-sisters: Carol and Cheryl Hankins, brother-in-laws: Clifford, Bryan (Bernadette) Mathis, and Derek Mathis (Juelle Bookie), sister-in-laws: Gloria (Charles) Camp and Niesha Mathis, four grandchildren, childhood best friends: Cherie Lewis, Tina Maxville Harris, Gwenetta Alexander McNeil and LaTonya Simpson Dixon along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial Serives will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
