Ray Shelby Godwin's Obituary
Ray Shelby Godwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 75 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born on February 21, 1950, Ray was the son of William and Betty Godwin. He married the love of his life, Pat Tessier, on June 11, 1977, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in love and family.
Ray retired in 2016 after a 30-year career with American Airlines. In retirement, he embraced the freedom to enjoy the things he loved most: fishing, golfing, and traveling in their motorhome.
Ray was a true family man - proud, present, and unwavering. He set an example every day of what it meant to be a faithful companion and an attentive father. Ray was charismatic and known for his easy humor and big heart.
He adored his grandchildren who saw him as a storyteller, playmate, and hero.
Ray is preceded in death by his son Clarke Godwin and parents, William and Betty Godwin.
Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat Godwin; daughter Jenny Byrom and husband Tyler; son Brian Godwin and wife Kristin; sister Sibyl Taylor and husband Frank; brother Rick Godwin and wife Sheana; and his five grandchildren: Jack Hall, Evelyn Godwin, Olivia Godwin, Violet Godwin, and Bo Byrom.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Floral Haven, 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK. A gathering at the Floral Haven Family Center will follow the celebration of life.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
