Raymond L. Nunneley's Obituary
Raymond Leo Nunneley was born June 28, 1943 to Wilbur (Sam) and Lessye (Pat) Nunneley in Tulsa Oklahoma at 9:30 p.m. He departed this life September 20, 2017 at 6:15 a.m. Ray grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Edison High School in 1962. He was a member of the wrestling team while at Edison. Ray attended college at Northeastern State University and graduated in 1966. He married Kaye Ray of Pryor in June of that year and began his coaching career at Edison High School as wrestling coach. While at Edison, Ray completed his master’s degree at Northeastern State University. Ray remained at Edison coaching wrestling until 1979. He left coaching and entered the life insurance business. He remained in the insurance business until retirement. Upon retirement, Ray became very active in the wrestling program at Edison as a volunteer. He spent the last few years substitute teaching and working with the wrestling program at Edison High School.He is survived in death by his wife, Kaye of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Long and husband Preston of Tulsa, and their two daughters Hadley and Ella along with daughter Kara Robbins of Inola, and her two sons Dakota and Braden. Surviving brothers Ronald and J. David Nunneley reside in Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Nunneley.A memorial service at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa will be held Monday, September 25th at 1:00 p.m.
