Becky Sanders' Obituary
Rebecca (Becky) Sanders went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 2, 2024. She was born on September 14th, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri at her grandparents’ home. She spent many summers at Grandmother and Grandfather Wilkerson’s house in Springfield and loved playing with her cousin Helen Gill. She grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Will Rogers High School, class of 1954. Becky met her future husband Joe Sanders at the Cains Ballroom in January 1955 where their romance started. Becky was friends with Joe’s niece Shirley who set up this secret meeting. They married on June 24, 1955. They made their first home in Tulsa, but later moved to Broken Arrow in 1967. Joe and his brothers built the house where they would raise their family.
When Becky was a young adult, she started her own business called Becky’s Decorated Cakes. This allowed her to work and also stay home with her family. Later she worked for 23 years as a new accounts coordinator in collections.
Becky loved flower gardening, baking, sewing, and having family gatherings in her home. Many years were spent traveling for her daughters’ sporting events, band contests, and grandchildren’s sports. After retiring, she loved playing dominos and bunco with her friends and family.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 11 years old at a revival, and trusted in Him for the remainder of her life. She and her husband Joe attended First Baptist Church Broken Arrow for 57 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Joseph Sanders, parents Foster Bruner and Hazel Bruner Broad, and sister Linda Cotton.
