Rena Mae Bishop-Jones' Obituary
Rena Mae (Bishop) Jones was born November 5, 1928 in Buchanan, Tennessee and passed away October 12, 2014 in Drumright, Oklahoma. Rena was the oldest of two daughters born to Dee and Maude (Greene) Bishop. Rena attended school in Dover, Tennessee until the eighth grade. Rena met Chester Jones during a blind date with a group of friends and the two soon started dating. On October 2 1947 the couple was united in marriage and from this union came nine children. In the late 1960’s the couple moved from Tennessee to Oklahoma. Rena was truly dedicated to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren watching them grow. Rena was an outspoken woman who had a feisty spirit, but she was also very sweet and would do anything for her family. She was a true Southern lady and lived by the lessons she taught. Rena was the glue that held her family together. She was an amazing cook and was always willing to share her recipes and teach her grandkids. She was a true artist and could do amazing work with water colors. Skills she learned while working at a photo studio as a young girl in Tennessee. Rena had quite the collection of knick knacks and loved gardening. Her garden had beautiful flowers and ferns, but her favorite were always her roses. She always insisted the family get together on the holidays. She loved to hear her house bussing with the sound of her grandbabies. Rena will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Rena is preceded in passing by her spouse of 53 years Chester Jones; parents Dee and Maude Bishop; sister, Ruby Novella “Pumpkin” Campbell; daughter Robyn Jones; son Johnny Jones; and daughter Deborah Swart. Rena is survived by her son Paul Jones; son Gary Jones and wife Sharon; daughter Sonja Murr and husband Larry; son David Jones; son Steve Jones and wife Sondra; Daughter Kathy Bryant; daughter-in-law’s Karen Jones and Lisa Jones; 13 grandchildren T.J., Kari, Rebecca, Betty Jean, Joanna, Stephanie, Jessie, Kimberly, Jason, Kristy, Ethen, Elizabeth, and Derrick; 17 great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
