Rena Fay Day's Obituary
Rena Fay McGuire was born to Charles and Annie McGuire on December 26, 1929, in rural Pottsboro, Texas. She was the youngest of six siblings — Myrtle, Inez, Fred, Morgan, Dovie, and Rena. She had a marvelous childhood with plenty of cousins and nephews around for playmates. She graduated from Denison High School, then went to business school in Ft. Worth, and back to work in Denison. There, she met and married Lloyd Day in 1946. Later, a daughter, Paula, was added to the family, and several years of frequent moves followed. During those moves, another daughter, Pamela, completed the family.
Donut shops played a major role in the life of the Day family. Lloyd and Rena had six of them, both Dixie Cream and Daylight. After a move to Tulsa in late 1955, the family settled into life in Oklahoma where they remained, except for one year when they relocated to Nashville. Rena was a very strong person and she nursed Lloyd through his last lengthy illness. She was generous with her time and talents, a devoted follower of Christ, and lived her life to serve others.
Rena Day passed from this life on July 2, 2024. She is survived by Paula and Doug Amen, Gary Amen, and Quincy Amen, Pamela and Larry White, Peter White, Kamryn Bachman, and Gabe White, Eric, Jenny, Will, Kate, and Henry Connell.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10AM - 2PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. All additional family gatherings will be private.
