Renny W Schackmann's Obituary
Renny W Schackmann, 79, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, in Tulsa, OK after a long battle with dementia. Renny was born June 18, 1945, in Condon, Oregon. He was born fifth out of a group of 6 siblings, and when Renny was three years old the children were placed for adoption with six
families who were all members of the Central Church of Christ in Portland, Oregon. Renny was adopted by Malden and Edwina Schackmann.
Later he would become the big brother of Randy and Rodney. Following his graduation from high school Renny joined the Air Force, and during his time in the Air Force he was deployed to Vietnam as a loadmaster on C-130 and C-123 aircraft. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military Renny married. They would spend time living in Nebraska, but most of his adult life was lived in La Porte, TX where they raised their three daughters and where he was a long time active member of the Southeast Church of Christ.
Renny was preceded in death by his parents and four of his biological siblings: Stephen Webb, Melvin Graves, Noel Zimmerman, and Margaret Towell. He is survived by his three daughters, Mindy (Jes) Shearer of Jenks, OK, Kori (James) Ireland of Fort Smith, AR, Bethany (Jared) Culbertson of Beavercreek, OH; his former wife, Elaine; his 13 Grandchildren: Amy, Emily, and Katelyn Shearer; Hannah, Brenden, Carter, Chase, Joshua, and Landon Ireland; Caleb, Abby, Andrew, and Ethan Culbertson; his brothers Randy (Ruth) Schackmann of Carrollton, TX and Rodney (Kalah) Schackmann of Portland, Oregon, and his Biological sister Barbara (Doug) Condit of Vancouver, WA.
The family would especially like to thank Renny’s care team at St. Simeon’s Senior Living Community for the care they gave Renny this last year of his life. A service with military honors will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon at a future date.
