Richard Hugh Bailey's Obituary
Richard Hugh Bailey, 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life peacefully on December 15, 2020, surrounded by his family in prayer. He was born on July 28, 1939 in Snomac, Oklahoma, and he was the youngest of five children to Glen W. Bailey and Ada Bowers. He faced many adversities in this life, but he always had a positive outlook, the heart of a giver, and the fight of a warrior.
Richard, aka “Pops” and “Grumps,” financed himself through college including a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tulsa. He retired from a 20+ year career with the City of Tulsa as Water Operations Manager, and volunteered for the Blue Thumb Program to protect the quality of water streams. He married Mona Callison in 1965 and had two children, Robert Bailey and Lynda Crouch. He remarried in 1990 to Susan Lawrence with three step children, Alison Verret, Keith Birmingham, and David Birmingham. He was preceded in death by both parents and 4 siblings. He lived a full life with many adventures and travels and enjoyed time with his friends. He was always searching for a mental or physical challenge, but he encouraged others to meet their goals as well. He leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Breanna Bailey, Kai Crouch, Darren and Cara Verret; and son-in-law, Richard Crouch. He was a generous and loving dad and grandpa, and he will be missed by many.
A private graveside service will be provided by his family.
