Richard Riley Dixon's Obituary
Richard Dixon, born on February 26, 1938, in Ada, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 9, 2025, at the age of 87. A man known for his dedication to family, community, and service, Richard lived a life marked by integrity and kindness. He was a proud alumnus of Will Rogers High School, and attended Oklahoma State University, and the University of Tulsa, On March 4, 1958, Richard married the love of his life, Sally Suzanne Woods ("Sue"), and together they built a loving family and life to be cherished. Richard was owner and operator of Bud’s Family Foods which was started by his father. He was President of the Oklahoma Grocers Association and was involved in Rotary Club of Tulsa. Memorial Baptist Church was their church home since 1984. His presence was a cornerstone in each community he touched. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Carl “Bud” Dixon, and Norma Alphene Dixon, as well as his brother, Carl Dixon Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally “Sue” Dixon; his sons, Ric (and wife Lee Ann Dixon), Terry Dixon (and Theresa Murphy), Scott (and wife Karen Dixon), and Keith Dixon. He also leaves behind a legacy through his cherished grandchildren, Carly Duren (Dylan), Jordy Pridgin (Jordan), Christopher Dixon, Kylie Dixon, Brett Dixon, Luke Dixon, and Riley Dixon; and his great-grandchildren, Knox Duren, Georgia Duren, Tucker Pridgin, and Blakely Pridgin. A service to honor Richard’s life will take place on Friday, March 14, at 12:30 PM in the Floral Haven Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory. Richard Dixon will be fondly remembered for his unwavering devotion to God, his family, his community, and the values he held dear. His warmth, leadership, and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
