Richard was my big brother I miss him so much. You see Richard was mentally retarded. He had a thing called PKU which is a liver enzyme that breaks up the protein that is eaten. Well he doesn't have that enzyme therefore when he ate protein it went straight to the brain cells and killed them off,DR's did not know of the disease until it was to late the damage was done. I myself have the same thing you see my mother was expecting me when he was diagnosed with PKI.yes they tested me and I also have pku but right from birth I was monitored, and watched until I was 5 I ate this special diet then at 5 was taken off the diet and lived a normal life . I have a wonderful husband,whom I adore and I have a great son who is right now fighting for his country in Afghanistan, you see the DR's said that I would never bere children but I am a true Christian and went against the DR's advice and got with child I trusted the Lord now I'm not only a mom I'm a grandmother I have to keep healthy and watch my pku I just turned 52 March 29 and Richard went home to be with the Lord at 57 I miss my little Rick as we call him it was hard to watch him as he took his last breath but I know e has a perfect body now and no longer Has pku can't wait to see him again I love him so much he passed on September 16,2013 and I have just now gotten the nerve to write this tribute to my brother. We love and miss you my sweet boy rest in peace.
