Richard Leon Murdock's Obituary
On October 12, 1940, a bundle of joy was delivered to Dallas James and Anna Bell (Reagor) Murdock, Sr. The bundle of joy was a bouncing baby boy. They named him Richard Leon Murdock.Richard was born and raised in Okmulgee, OK where he attended Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating from the Historic Dunbar High School, class of 1958. Richard furthered his education, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting. Mr. Murdock served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Italy. After his service to his country, he labored for 15 years for McDonald Douglass and 35 years for the U.S. Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 2013, due to illness. Richard became to know the Lord at a very young age, he would often say “you don’t have to go to church every Sunday, God lives in you.” In his spare time Richard enjoyed working on his house, he was a carpenter at heart. If you ever came over or needed help he was always there to lend a helping hand physically or financially. He would always tell his step-children, to always put money back for a rainy day, you never know who might need you. He loved and adored a landscaping, a beautiful yard was so exhilarating to himHe married the love of his life Sheila Ann (Austin) Murdock, this union has lasted for more than 30 years.Richard fought the good fight, and he won the war and earned his wings on September the 15th, for now he’s resting in God’s arms. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Bertha “Murdock” Syas, Eva Reagor and three brothers, Dallas “Boots” Murdock, Sr., Alfred Murdock and Rayford “Foxy” Reagor. His loving family that he leaves in God’s care: His loving wife, Sheila Murdock, his for step-children, Phyllis (Austin) Jones, Rodney Austin, Tara Austin, and Artan Austin. His darling sisters, Dorothy Murdock Shepard and Lois Murdock Craig and his brother Johnny Murdock, and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
