Richard Lee Nelson's Obituary
• Richard Lee Nelson, 79 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Tulsa surrounded by family. He was the first newborn in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota for the year 1941, born on the first of January to his parents, Alvin Izak Nelson and Doris Olson Nelson. He married the love of his life, Claudette Ann Tousley on August 10, 1963 and they have shared in over 57 wonderful years together.
Richard was a good and generous man who is survived by his loving wife, Claudette Nelson of the home; three children, David Nelson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Gregory Nelson and his wife Dana Forrest of Hilo, Hawaii and Bernadette Givens and her husband Dwayne of Chouteau, Oklahoma; four siblings, Jean Ann White of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Linda Ryan of Brainerd, Minnesota, Debbie Koerner and her husband Lowell of E. Bethel, Minnesota and Terri McGregor and her husband Jim of Duluth, Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren, Kelly, Alexis, Breanna, Lakota, Erin, Alex, Ashley, Sabrina, Andrew, Shannon, Kelly, Joshua and Amber; fourteen great-grandchildren, Avery, Landon, Kade, Daniel, Alyssa, Connor, Leilani, Liam, Theodore, Karsen, PJ, Aria, Noah and Jasmine; one great-great-grandson, Dayson; special family friends, Jack and Jan Schaefer and Jack, Jr. and Dee; and many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Doris Nelson and his brother, Gerald Nelson.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, December 20th at 2 PM at The Ridge church: 7401 S. 209th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Food and drinks will be provided.
