Richard Rogers' Obituary
“Well done thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21 Richard Nelson Rogers, devoted Husband, Loving Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, stepped out of this world on December 16, 2005 and into the presence of the LORD, he loved and a glory that we cannot even imagine. Richard was born on September 17, 1915 in rural Iowa to John and Hannah Rogers. He grew up on a farm in Iowa with two sweet sisters and 3 mischievous brothers. He attended Iowa State College and proudly served his country in the Navy along side his twin brother Don. He retired after a long career from the FAA as an air traffic controller. After retirement he volunteered his time for church, friends and family. He was awarded “Angel On Earth” status by The National Association of Retired Federal Employees and for many years drove a school bus for challenged children. “A wife of nobel character is her husband’s crown.” Proverbs 12:4 He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Edris Ilene. “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children are a reward from HIM.” Psalm 127:3 Richard is survived by his sons Richard Rogers Jr. and wife Debbie, Marc Alan Rogers and wife Marsha, daughters Linda Gilleland and husband Jerry and Carole Mann. “Childrens’ children are a crown to the aged.” Proverbs 17:6 Eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his two wonderful sisters Iris Terrell and Zorqa Baughman, three sisters-in-law, Mildred Rogers, Ruth Rogers, Elsie Rogers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and three brothers. He will be remembered as a man of dignity, integrity, honesty, great kindness and humor. “Know therefore that the LORD your GOD is GOD. He is the faithful GOD, keeping HIS covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love HIM and keep HIS commands.” Deuteronomy 7:9Survived By: his loving wife of 64 years, Edris Ilene. 2 sons Richard Rogers Jr. and wife Debbie, Marc Alan Rogers and wife Marsha; 2 daughters Linda Gilleland and husband Jerry and Carole Mann; Eleven grandchildren: Teresa Ann Wolfe, Robyn Elise Prince, Laura Jill Scott, Stephan Rob Humphrey, Adam Nelson Rogers, Tianna Patrina Nancy Rogers, Melissa Joye Bridgeman, Melanie Lynn Winford, Sarah Allison Rogers, Hannah Elizabeth Rogers, and James Michael Rogers; 12 great-grandchildren: Benjamin Andrew Prince, Nataly Elise Prince, Madelaine Paige Wolfe, Lauren Ilene Bridgeman, Meghan Elaine Winford Joshua Hagan, Rachel Elaine Wolfe, Preston Richard Wolfe, Erin Mikayla Winford, Jayden Nielsen Bridgeman, Hudson Reid Scott, and Ava Claire Scott; 2 sisters: Iris Terrell, and Zora Zilla Baughman. his two wonderful sisters Iris Terrell and Zorqa Baughman, three sisters-in-law, Mildred Rogers, Ruth Rogers, Elsie Rogers and many nieces and nephews.
