Richard Nelson Seaman's Obituary
Richard Nelson Seaman, 76, joined Jesus in Heaven on the 15th of January 2023. Richard was born in Wichita, Kansas to John and Helen (Krause) Seaman. He lived most of his life in Florida where he loved to tell stories of his adventures chasing alligators. He graduated from Colorado State University and proceeded to obtain his doctorate at the University of Missouri. It was in Colorado where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Sally (Bates). Richard was a beloved biology and genetics professor for 49 years at ORU and retired in 2016. He loved God first, all things nature, Flint Ridge, his dogs and most of all his family.
Richard is survived by his wife Sally of Tulsa, his sons Nathan Seaman and wife Kellie of Ontario, California, David Seaman of Tulsa, John Seaman of Tulsa, his daughters Andrea Seaman of Kansas City, Karen Wright and husband Matt of Tulsa, Rachel Orth and husband Shawn Sr of Tulsa, his ten grandchildren, Benjamin, Taylor, Lexie, Hannah, Audrey, Aliyah, Kailee, Shawn Jr, Ellianna, and Carlee, and his brother Don of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Frank.
Heaven gained an angel. Although he had dementia for the past ten years, Richard was influential until the end. His love for God shined through him everyday. He taught his children to be kind, love one another, and lend a helping hand but most of all, to trust in God. He is eternally loved by family and friends. Forever in our hearts.
