Richard Tilden Shelton's Obituary
Richard Tilden Shelton, born on March 19, 1937, in Pine Bluff, AR, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. Richard was a devoted husband of 50 years to the love of his life, Doris. He is survived by his son, Scott Shelton, daughter-in-law Katie Shelton, and grandchildren Hannah Shelton and Hudson Shelton. Richard, known for his love of travel, explored Hilton Head Island, the Smokey Mountains, Maine, Vermont, and all 50 states.
A dedicated Boy Scout Leader for 50 years, he attended his last scout meeting just weeks ago and was an active member of Troop 26. Richard was also a long-time participant in the Kiwanis Club and a committed church member, serving as a deacon for many years. His passion for running defined him for years. Richard had a love of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed being around sports enthusiasts. He was a huge Oklahoma Sooners football fan. Richard found joy in his work with Zurawik Law Firm, which kept him motivated and engaged.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, son Steven Shelton, parents, Artle Earl and Eloise Elizabeth (Wilson) Shelton and sister Mary Lou Pistelli, Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 7th, at 11:00 am at Yale Ave Christian Church.
