Richard Troy Steele's Obituary
Troy Steele, originally from California, before moving to Afton, Oklahoma was surrounded by family when he passed away from heart failure on March 25th, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born to Lynda - Hairstylist and Homemaker, and Richard - US Marine and Financial Planner, on Sunday, January 26th, 1969 at EdenHospital in Castro Valley, CA.
As a young boy, Troy was shy and sensitive with a loyal, adventurous, playful and relentlessly generous spirit. He tried many sports, but loved baseball and fishing. He attended Bidwell, Treeview, & Schaefer Park Elementary Schools in Hayward California, before finishing up at Twin Creeks Elementary, & then Pine Valley Middle School in San Ramon. He moved with his dad to Pleasanton, California and graduated from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, before going to Butte College, in Chico California.
A hard worker, he had many jobs. Some of the most notable include Emporium Capwells while in High School with his brother Jay Brown who he would work with again at GMAC Mortgage. He was married to Angelique in 2002, moved to Fresno, CA, and loved being a stepdad to her two children. Divorced in 2005, he moved back to Citrus Heights, California, earned his EMT license, worked as a Repo man, which he
was extremely good at, then finished out his career as a Janitor for Roseville Joint Union High School District. He was an excellent self-trained carpenter, painter and all-around handyman! If it needed fixing, he would figure it out and do an A+ job! During his final days, he proudly shared about remodeling his grandparent’s bathroom, his brother’s Carmel cabin kitchen, and his beloved boat dock in Afton, Oklahoma.
Troy was blessed with a large and loving family from California, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. The best big brother, he was always available to listen, give advice, and make his sister laugh. He was a loyal and loving son, nephew, cousin and dear friend to so many. His most favorite role was as an uncle and godfather! Troy loved to travel, fish, listen to good music, shoot pool, play cards, cook and share a delicious meal with family and friends – just being with those he loved – lit him up!
Survived by his mother Lynda Newell, father, Richard Steele, sister Jennifer Geeting, Mike Geeting, nieces Grace & Gwenn and nephew Grant, brother Jay Brown, Aunt Georgia & Uncle Dennis, Aunt Tricia, cousins Ashley, Dennis, Dustin, Crystal, Lisa & Lori, and all their kids.
The Celebration of Life Service will be 4:30 PM, Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at The Cove Clubhouse, 32922 Pebble Beach, Afton, OK 74331
