Richard Clinton Tate Jr. passed from this life on July 13, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Richard was born September 30, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Richard Clinton and Janice Marie (Winkle) Tate.
Richard known by his friends as Rick was a 1973 graduate of Nathan Hale High School and a member of the “Hale Raiser” club. He did many things, including being a welder/fitter and mechanical Journeyman and then worked for the city of Tulsa on the Raw Water Supply Flow Line. Following a back injury he received while working there leaving him disabled from his job, he became a daytime Mr. Mom to his two sons. Rick had an innate mechanical ability to fix just about anything from cars to plumbing to electrical and anything in between. He loved singing in the church choir. He loved sweet tea and brownies. He was proud of his Cherokee and Shawnee heritage.
Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra Tate; sons, Matthew Clinton Tate and his wife Chelsea, and Jeremy Ryan Tate; grandchildren Natalie Tate, Lexi Tate, Brielle Tate, and Kennady Tate; sister, Debra Raffensperger and her husband Ken; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Janice and Gene Chamberlain and Richard and Mary Tate; sister Sharrie Tate.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 22nd Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 23rd, at Southwood Baptist Church, Tulsa
