Richard L. Whitehead's Obituary
On the evening of September 13, 2015, Richard passed away due to complications from an infection and heart arrhythmia. Richard was being comforted and cared for by his family at the time of his passing. He was 83 years old.Richard Whitehead was born January 21, 1932 to A. L. and Nora Whitehead. A life-long resident of the Tulsa area, he graduated from Rogers High School in 1950 and married Josephine Helen Johnson in 1951. Richard and Josephine had two sons, Rickey and Russell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching the boys’ baseball teams when they were young. After Josephine passed away, Richard married Patricia Ann Neptune in 1978 and became very active in helping to raise her two daughters, Kelli and Christy. Richard worked for many years at Tulsa Auto Springs Company as well as at Southwest Trailer and will be missed by many. He loved spending time with family, traveling and casino trips with friends. Richard was rarely without a photo or story about one of his grandchildren or great-granddaughter, of whom he was extremely proud and brought him so much joy.Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, A. L. and Nora Whitehead, his wife Josephine Whitehead, brother Charles Whitehead, sister-in-law Stella Whitehead and son-in-law John Bailey.Richard is survived by his wife Pat Whitehead and 4 children – Rick Whitehead, Russ Whitehead, Kelli Whitehead and Christy Ramsey. He is also survived by his grandchildren – Regina Johnston, Ryan Whitehead, Rachel Whitehead, Rebekah Gonzales, Derek Burnett and Sidnie Burnett as well as one great-granddaughter, Brynna Johnston.Richard will be remembered and family will receive guests at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK on September 16, 2015 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Floral Haven on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
