I loved Richard like a brother. In fact, I issued a proclamation several years ago in which I adopted him as my 'Big Brother.' He was probably the kindest, most caring, and considerate man I have ever known. Hopefully this is not too 'wordy,' but one of my favorite stories about him was the time we were on our way to Dallas, and going through Okmulgee. There were several others in the van and I was sitting directly behind Richard. I said, "Mr Wiseman, may I ask you a question?" He said, "Sure!" I then said, "As a former law enforcement officer for the state of Oklahoma, can you explain why you are driving 65 in a 45 mph zone?" He said something like, "I can't believe I did that!" I feel privileged to have known him, and my life has been enriched by his friendship. He was not only a true gentleman. He was a gentle man.

Wanda & I worked at Hissom together in the late '60s. My husband, Tom McGuire, and I became close friends with Wanda & Richard. We had so many great times, riding horses, going to the lake, taking trips to Yellowstone, visiting them at the Governor's mansion and sharing family time. They were the ideal couple, so much in love with unlimited respect for each other. I wanted us to be just like them. Richard was always the gentleman, thinking of everyone else before himself. I don't remember him saying a negative thing about anyone. He was always upbeat and positive. Not many men would stay with friends for 2 weeks so that they could help after a new baby arrived, but that's what Richard and Wanda did. In 1969 when our son Tommy was born, my mother was teaching school and not available to help, so Richard & Wanda moved in (I think they lived in Prague at the time.) They did laundry, cooked meals, changed diapers & entertained us. We had a blast! I lost touch with them after the '70s, but got reports periodically about their lives & all the grandkids. I remember Richard as he was when he was in the Highway Patrol, tall, handsome with a big smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He will be truly missed! Wanda and Sharon. I was so sorry to hear of Richards passing. I couldn't attend his services but want you to know I was thinking of you and remembering all the good times we use to have years ago. I worked with Richard at United Bank back in early 1980's, He was the kindest and one of the most honorable men I believe I have ever had the pleasure to know. I will never forget the day the Bank was robbed and he chased after the robber and waived down a young girl in a Volkswagen Bug and crawled in the back to follow him. He was a wonderful man and loved and spoke of his family often. My deepest sympathys to the family, but rest assured he is taking care of security at Gods house now. I have fond memories of Richard. I worked with him at United Bank. I was the safe deposit box attendant and Richard's desk was directly across from mine. He mentioned his wife and daughter often. We had a great work-friendship and he was someone I looked up to a great deal. The thing I remember most were the times he and I got to drill open delinquent safe deposit boxes and see what was inside. Usually nothing, but we had fun with it. My condolences to the family.
