Rita Richard's Obituary
Rita Richard, 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on August 23, 2025. She was born on November 30, 1932, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Romeo and Eva Gamache.
Rita grew up in Derry, New Hampshire and graduated from Pinkerton Academy with the Class of 1950. On June 30, 1951, she married Gerard Dionne in Derry, New Hampshire, and together they began building a life full of love, family, and shared memories. Gerry passed away in 1977, and Rita married Joseph Presley Richard on December 23, 1988. Rita and Presley enjoyed many years of cruising and traveling to Europe and beyond.
In her younger years, she was an active Girl Scout leader, generously giving her time and talents to inspire and guide others. Throughout her life, she nurtured a love for knitting and sewing, often creating beautiful handmade pieces that reflected her creativity and care.
Strong and independent, Rita was a woman who embraced life with joy and adventure. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren whether they be in Europe, Florida, Texas, or Maine. She made lifelong memories and friendships. Known for her vibrant social spirit, she cherished playing cards, board games, and connecting with those around her. Rita’s leadership extended beyond her personal life as she proudly served as president of the Franco-American Amvets Post 161, where she made a lasting impact.
Rita will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and zest for life. Her independence and ability to bring joy to every gathering left a mark on all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Gerry, second husband Presley, brother Dorell Gamache, brother Roland Gamache, and sister Theresa Laferriere.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Russell and husband Ronald of Limington, Maine, son Paul Dionne and wife Suzie of New Braunfels, Texas, son Roger Dionne and wife Julie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and daughter Lorraine Steeves and her fiancé Lloyd Bosworth, of Daytona Beach, Florida, fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in her remarkable journey.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27th at 9:00 AM up until the service starts at 10:00 AM
