Robert Alfred's Obituary
Robert (Bob) was born September 19, 1947 in Mattoon, Illinois to Charles and Marylou (Whitley) Alfred. He was the oldest of three children. Bob attended school in Bartlesville, Ok and graduated from College High, then attended Oklahoma City University. He went to work for Cities Service Oil & Gas , transferring to CITGO Petroleum where he was a Benefits IT Specialist until he retired in 1985 after 33 years. Bob later worked for The Holmes Organization doing employee benefit enrollments for various companies. Bob's passion was writing songs and playing music especially for his grandchildren and as guitarist and keyboardist for the CITGO Allstar Rock n Roll Revue (company band), and sang in the church choir having a few solo parts through the years. Bob enjoyed inviting friends over for a meal and singalong on the back patio with friends. He played golf from a very early age and enjoyed traveling taking his clubs wherever he went until his health declined. He also played softball and soccer starting at age 30 until into his 60's. When he was no longer able to play, he would watch golf and soccer on tv and was very vocal about a missed putt or bad drive, or a bad pass or missed goal. We would all just laugh at him as he had no favorites.
He is survived by his loving wife Katie, who invited him to go on a date which led to a marriage 11 weeks later, a marriage that lasted almost 47 years. He had three daughters, Deborah Wilson (Jerald), Rebekah Updike, Sarah Ferguson, seven grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Marissa Griffin, Jennifer Wilson, Brianna Larson, Abygail Ferguson, Alyssa Ferguson and Ellen Ferguson, five great grandchildren, and brother, Mark Alfred (Joyce) who lives in Oklahoma City .
A celebration of life will be held July 1, 2024 @ 12:30 at Floral Haven Chapel with an Irish wake (his wishes) at Bros. Houligan from 2-5 following. He wanted everyone to come toast their friendship with his favorite Irish Whiskeys and remember the good times had by all who knew him.
