Robert Joe Archibald's Obituary
Robert Joe Archibald was born on February 26th, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri and passed away on June 12th, 2026 in Broken Arrow.
Bob grew up in Tulsa and graduated from East Central High School in 1969. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1974 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He started his career at Gulf Oil in Tulsa. Soon he was transferred to New Orleans. He moved back to Tulsa in 1978 and started a new job at Getty Oil.
In the summer of 1981, Bob got a new secretary and her name was Lynn.
Lynn and Bob were married on September 25, 1982. They welcomed their twin sons, Matthew and Mark, in January of 1984.
Bob and Lynn were active in their sons’ lives. Bob was the boys’ baseball coach, scout leader, and role model. The family was active in First Methodist of Broken Arrow.
From the years of 1993 to 2004, the family moved for Bob’s job to Houston, Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago. The family was glad to get back to the Tulsa area in 2004 to be near family.
For the last ten years of his career, Bob enjoyed his job at Magellan Midstream, retiring in December 2015. Lynn and Bob enjoyed traveling and making many trips to Dallas to see their granddaughters!
Bob had many interests and hobbies – he loved playing golf with his buddies – he shared his passion for gardening and planting with his sister, Beth. In these past weeks, she would take him to Southwood Nursery and help him pick out plants! He enjoyed sharing his interest in Nascar with his brother, Bill, and Matt and Mark. Bob was very active in the Sunrise Rotary Club in Tulsa and in 2021 he was awarded the honor of Rotarian of the Year.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lynn, of 43 years – his son, Matthew and his wife Emily – his son, Mark and his wife Audrey – his two granddaughters – Ellie and Kalie who knew him as “Poppy” – his sister, Beth (Craig) Shiever – his brother Bill (Carol) Archibald, and nieces Skye and Megan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents – Robert and Joanne Archibald
A celebration of life will take place on Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Asbury Chapel. 6767 S Mingo Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133
In lieu of flowers the family kindly request donations be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is now called Breakthrough T1D.
