Robert W. Baker Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. Robert W. Baker, Jr., 81, died peacefully in his sleep February 4, 2014, following a heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 15, 1931. Bob attended Lee Elementary School, Central High School, Yale University and The University of Oklahoma. In 1960, he obtained his dental license from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.Dr. Baker was a 4th generation Dentist and maintained a dental practice in Tulsa for almost 40 years before retirement. Bob was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Southern Hills Country Club, the J. Dean Robertson Society, as well as many other organizations. Bob was an army veteran serving his country during the Korean conflict. He was a devoted OU fan. Bob was a kind and loving man, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a keen wit and wonderful sense of humor and held a love for his Lord and Savior.He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cora Bronaugh Baker, and their children: Elizabeth Baker Brown, Robert W. Baker, III and Nancy Baker Hicks and her husband, Jim. Family was a top priority for Bob and he demonstrated this by attending most all of his children’s and then grandchildren’s innumerable sporting and school events. He loved and was very proud of all of his grandchildren: Brad Brown and wife, Andrea; Anne Brown, Molly Baker, Hannah Hicks, Stan Hicks, Robert W. Baker, IV (“Rob”) ” and great-granddaughter, Tennyson Brown.Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Robert W. Baker, Sr. and Winifred Nicklos Baker; and grandson, Christopher Nicklos Baker. Bob is also survived by his sisters Anne Baker Bartholet, Joan Baker Darby and husband, Jim and brother-in-law C.T. Bronaugh and wife Vicki. He also leaves behind Godchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a myriad of close friends.Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
