Robert Victor Block 's Obituary
Robert Victor Block, 84, of Deer Park, Texas passed away on July 8, 2016 with family by his side.
He was born to the late Emil and Dorothy Block on November 23, 1930 in Hartford, Connecticut. Robert graduated from The University of North Texas with a double major in Math and Physics. He enjoyed a successful career working for IBM as a computer programmer; spending time working contract for NASA. He retired from IBM after 35 years.
He married Virginia Brown on December 27, 1954 and together raised their two sons and two daughters.
Robert is survived by his brother Howard Block and wife Nancy of Irving, TX, sister Judy Boyles and husband William of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his son Gregory Block, son Danny Block and wife Darilyn, daughter Katy Blume and husband Doyle of Houston, TX, and daughter Karen Davis and husband, Darrick of Broken Arrow. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jeanette Lamb, Robert Blume, Patrick Blume, Trey Blume, Joshua Block, Jacob Block, Sarah Block, Olivia Davis, and Sidney Davis. He is survived by ten great-grandchildren: Matilda, Josiah, Willa Mae, Betty, Gloria, Oliver, Roman, Britton, Farrah and Ava. In additon to a host of nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded by his parents, his sister Barbara Downes, brother Phillip Block and wife Wanda, brother James Block, sister-in-law Pat Block.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman, expert mechanic, and sports car enthusiast. His dedication to hard work in his career provided well for his family and ensured he was able to spend time with his family teaching his children a love for the outdoors, activity, appreciating travel, helping others, and broadening our horizons. He leaves behind lasting memories of strength, stability, and togetherness.
