Robert Lloyd DeCorte's Obituary
Robert Lloyd DeCorte passed at home, with his family by his side, on July 28, 2013. Bob was born in Tulsa on November 9, 1924, the second of six children to parents Julius and Lela DeCorte. A life long resident of Tulsa, he married Helen Marie Shue in 1945 and enjoyed a 35 year career with American Airlines before retiring in 1979. He served in Flight Operations where he calculated critical aircraft load data prior to the advent of computer-aided systems. Bob served faithfully and with joy at Sandusky Ave./Cincinnati Ave. Christian Church as an elder, deacon, teacher and youth leader. Known for both his “Greetings of the day” cheerfulness and skills as a handyman he was always in high demand among friends and family as the go-to guy for any project. With his interests and talents in photography, Bob was often the man behind the camera at special events and compiled an impressive collection of slides from worldwide travels with his wife. He enjoyed sailing the lakes of eastern Oklahoma and especially introducing the quieter ride to his grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack DeCorte. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; four children; Michael DeCorte, Tavia (Jerry) Elwell, Robert DeCorte, Helen (Ken) Campbell; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Viewing will be on Thursday, 10am to 7pm at Floral Haven, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave, Broken Arrow, OK. Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, 11am at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church, 1101 S. Sandusky Ave, Tulsa, OK. Graveside at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens following.
