Dr Endres was my pediatrician until he told me I needed to find a grown up doctor when I was in my second year of college! He was a great man.
My son was diagnosed with diabetes when he was four years old. At that time I didn’t even know what diabetes was, nor did I know how to take care of him. Children’s Mercy in Oklahoma City, did a great job on teaching me. With in the year my husband found a job in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We met Dr Endres on a weekend. My son became very sick and I needed help. My mom had seen a write up about Dr Enders and suggested looking him up. I was lucky and called him and he immediately told me to meet him at his office. My son had strep throat. When we got ready to go, Dr. Endres picked my son up and carried him to the car. At that minute I fell in love with Dr. Endres. He was our Dr. for five years. He was the best doctor ever! Jamie English
I was one of dr endres patients. I was diagnosed at the age of 12 and he got me through my adolescent years. I got to see him again when he lectured at NSU in the late 90s and he remembered me. I just saw this and wanted to say how much he meant to me
I finally have closure, my Christmas card was returned in 2020. I worked with Dr Endres when St Francis opened new 5th floor Pediatrics in 1969 as RN with Sister Anna Marie. Awesome mentor , learned so much from him, greatly admired and respected him. What a sense of humor , eyes twinkled and raised bushy eyebrows when joking. I moved to Okmulgee Ok in 1970 to work at health department. He was in delivery room for my c-section in 1973 when held baby for me to see and said “ you have a beautiful baby girl, what is her name?” I said Amy, what JOY,he was at Springer Clinic then.He and Edrie Bates helped me raise my my most precious daughter. In 1974 Okmulgee Heath Department sent us to Dallas Tx to get my Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certificate. At Amy’s 2 year check up he, Dr Brownlee and Dr Gheen interviewed me, I think because Amy was so delightful they hired me as manager and PNP for new Children’s Clinic at Warren Bldg. There I met Bonnie Watson RN who was his Nurse. And her precious daughter, Sarah. Then we lost Bonnie to breast cancer when Sarah was 5yo. So many fond memories working together and forever friendships. In 1977 he paid for and insisted I take new National certification exam for PNPs, I passed! I am now 73 yo and still keep my annual National certification and it has allowed me to have a long and wonderful career.I give him credit for encouraging my career , knowledge and raising wonderful daughter and now 3 awesome grandchildren. I am semi- retired , I have lived with daughter and son-in- law for 23 years now. I am so thankful I got to be included in their awesome family. We have moved 4 times including Colorado for 9 yr and last 10 yr here in MelissaTx. What an awesome family he and Esther and their incredible 5 children and generations that followed. My sympathies for your loss and Praise the Lord for the legacy and beautiful memories.If ever come to Dallas I live north on Highway 75 and would to share memories with y’all. God is so good. Blessings ❤️🙏🏼😇Sandy Busse Nunley, Amy,Chris, Noah, 23yo,Leah 31yo and Jonah 16 yo.Tyner
"just do the next thing"
Uncle Bob told my mom that as she was struggling to make the transition to nursing. She knew her end goal but it seemed so lofty and far away. Following his advice she went to school, then she got a job, and she is now a doctor. We were lucky enough to send off her thesis to him before he passed and he got to see her success. I was raised on that phrase and it has allowed me to not shrink away from a long process. Exactly a year after visiting him and him encouraging me to just do the next thing I have been accepted to my dream schools to pursue biomedical engineering as a pre-med track. Uncle Bob, I can't wait to sit and have coffee with you and Queen Esther in the A-Frame again. I hope I can have as much of an impact in other's lives as you have.
-Your grand-niece
I loved my conversations with Bob. He was a kindred spirit about his love for canoeing in northern Minnesota. Such a full life blessed by God. I will leave this story as our last to share.
Endless shore lines of the North
Through only rock and sand
Speak of endless adventures
And trips as yet unplanned.
A wondering spirit overcomes my mind;
It seems to control my mood.
In search of the perfect course
Towards beauty and solitude.
Like the voyageurs of old
And canoeists who have gone before.
We travel endless portages
To find the untraveled shore.
To paddle the still water
Where most can only aspire.
To find shelter in the night
Beside a dying fire.
And somewhere in the darkness
As final embers die;
Across the mirror like waters
There comes a mournful cry.
A loon is calling to it's mate
Or perhaps it's calling to me;
As I dream of a distant shoreline
That I have yet to see.
I believe Bob has reached that shoreline. Godspeed.

Dr. Endres was my doctor from age six to 17. He walked my family through life with Type I diabetes. I am now 54 and doing great - thanks to him. I made an appointment after my first child was born and sat and visited with Dr. Endres for a bit. I was able to show him what he had done for me by guiding me through life with diabetes. My fondest memory of Dr. Endres was the first ever ski trip to Colorado. He had me by 40 years, but I can still see him skiing down that mountain with the biggest smile on his face. What a great man! Prayers to his family -- please know that he was loved by everyone.
Doctor Endres was my children’s Pediatrician in 1973 and 1976. He was the best Doctor and so kind. He guided this young mother through the first years of my children’s lives. I was so thankful for that. My prayers and thoughts are with his friends and family.
Dr. Endres was special to me. He was not only a pediatrician I worked with but a friend. When I started the Pediatric resident coordinator position under the direction of Dr. Dan Plunket and Dr. Robert Block Dr. Endres was my supporter. He was loved by all he came in contact with.
He will be remembered.
I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Bob's passing. He was my Dr when I was a child and I remember him making house calls! That was a long time ago! He was always so caring and kind.
