Robert Wayne Gibson's Obituary
Robert Wayne Gibson, 59, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 28, 2014, with his family by his side. Robert was born on March 3, 1955 in Sinton, Texas to Orland T. and Frances Mae Gibson. He was the second of four children. He graduated from McAlester High School and attended Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1978. After graduation, he began a career as a Petroleum Engineer, where he worked in the industry for 36 years. He married Rebecca Gibson on December 20, 1980. Rebecca was the love of his life and his best friend. Robert’s favorite activities included walks with his wife, spending time with his kids and grandchildren, and enjoying each day to the fullest. Robert lived his life with a half-full perspective and exemplified Christ’s love through his daily actions. He was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to both his family and those around him. He always had a smile on his face to go with his beautiful blue eyes. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Gibson of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Rachel Rogers and her husband Bruce of Tulsa, OK and Ashley Brim and her husband Jeremy of Tulsa, OK; son, Bryan Gibson of Tulsa, OK; grandsons, Timothy Webster and Braxton Brim; granddaughters, Adison Whitty and Britton Brim; brothers, Richard Gibson and his wife Fran of Dallas, TX and Ron Gibson and his wife Lynn of Broken Arrow, OK; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 12pm – 7pm, with family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home located at 6500 South 129th East Avenue Broken Arrow, OK 74012. A celebration of his life will be held at 10am on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Parkview Baptist Church located at 5805 South Sheridan Road Tulsa, OK 74145. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to be made to Silverlining Ministries at 4739 East 5th Street Tulsa, OK 74112 and/or Clarehouse at 7617 S. Mingo Road Tulsa, OK 74133.
