Robert Edward Gorman's Obituary
Robert Edward Gorman January 27, 1933 to May 10, 2013 Surrounded by family and dear friends, Bob Gorman passed peacefully to eternal life at the age of 80 years. Born in Hiltons, Virginia to Leonard and Katharine (Frantz) Gorman, Bob grew up with brothers Jerry and Larry in Virginia and later in Farmington, Michigan. He graduated from Shrine High School and then served proudly in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. In 1950 he married the love of his life, Fay Fern Lahey, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Farmington. Together Bob and Fay had five children and moved their growing family to Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, California and Oklahoma during his 30+ year career as an airline pilot for Lake Central Airlines, Allegheny Airlines and USAir. Captain Bob Gorman loved flying and he and Fay made many treasured, lifelong friendships all across the country during their travels. Bob took his family on countless trips over the years, instilling a love of travel, the outdoors and adventure in his children and grandchildren. Through his unending generosity, his family has had the opportunity to travel the world. He leaves a legacy of selflessness and an appreciation for all things humorous to his grateful family and friends. A tireless worker, he put all five of his children through college and ensured an appreciation for learning that carries across the generations. A man of strong faith, he was always an active member of his church and enjoyed serving on committees and parish councils over the years, and appreciated the support of his friends at St. Benedict Church in recent years. Always one to enjoy socializing, he also loved being a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Soaring Eagles and the QBs. Bob is survived by his devoted wife Fay, son Robert Joseph Gorman, daughters Kathleen Sorahan, Jeanne Gallien Gorman, Suzanne Gorman, Colleen Kelley and their spouses. He will be dearly missed by grandchildren Shannon Miller and her husband Tony, Kyle Gallien, Connor Sorahan, Katrina Nilsson Gorman, Evan Robert Gallien, Morgan Kelley, Kathleen Kelley, Liam Sorahan, Christopher Kelley and adoring great-granddaughter, Anna Miller. He is also survived by his beloved brother Larry Gorman, sisters-in-law Joann Gorman, Beth Gorman and May Evarone, as well as many nieces and nephews. The Catholic funeral mass will be held at the Church of St. Benedict, Broken Arrow on Wednesday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. with reception following in the hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CureSearch ' Team Supergraem, 4600 East West Hwy, Ste. 600, Bethesda, MD 20814. Bob and Fay enjoyed walking with little Graem Hobbs in the walkathon to fund a cure for children's leukemia.
