Robert George Hamilton's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Hamilton, born April 8, 1934, passed peacefully on March 3, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories. A remarkable man who lived a life full of adventure, creativity, and devotion, Bob touched the lives of many.
Bob proudly served his country as part of the Air Commandos, dedicating years of service to the Air Force and working as an airplane mechanic. A Vietnam veteran, he carried the honor of his service with him wherever he went. His journey took him across the United States and to far-off places like Morocco and Italy, where he embraced the beauty and culture of the world.
A man of many passions, Bob found joy in gardening, nurturing life and beauty from the earth. He had a special bond with his loyal dog, Shiloh, who was his faithful companion. Bob was also a talented craftsman, building large model airplanes and flying them with his club, an activity that brought him great joy and camaraderie. His love for painting added even more vibrancy to his creative life.
Bob’s true treasure was his family. He was a proud and loving patriarch, survived by his daughters Debra Nein, Patricia Penninger, and Janet Davis, his sons Ronald Hicks, Ricky Hicks, and Gary Hicks, as well as their spouses. He was a cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and even great-great-grandfather, leaving a legacy of love and connection.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy Hamilton and second wife Sarah Hamilton, his son Robert Hamilton II, his daughters Cheryl Decoux and Theresa Staley, his sisters Lee Hamilton, Jean Spencer, and Mary Wilia, and his brother Edward Hamilton.
Bob’s life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the pursuit of passions. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. May his spirit soar as freely as the planes he loved so much.
