Robert E. Lincecum's Obituary
Robert Eugene Lincecum, a resident of Tulsa for the past 43 years, died on April 12, 2015. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, where he was reared, attending the public schools there, and graduating from Sunset High school in 1948. He received a degree in Business Administration in 1952 from Texas A&M University where in the Corps of Cadets he was a member of “A” Troop Cavalry.During his long business career he worked for Proctor & Gamble and for Levi Strauss & Co., both in Fort Worth and in Tulsa. After his retirement from Strauss, he was an independent manufacturer’s representative for many years.He served on active duty as a commissioned officer in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 and in the reserve thereafter, finally attaining the rank of Captain. In Korea, he was a tank-unit commander in the 5th Regimental Combat Team of the US 8th Army.He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen O’Meaux Lincecum and his mother, Sallie Tucker Lincecum. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Christopher Lincecum; his son Steven Edward Lincecum; his son John Christopher Lincecum and wife, Robin; his daughter, Sallie Lincecum Hill, and husband, Daniel; his granddaughter, Leslie Lincecum Slaughter, and husband, Kendall; his grandsons Tucker Lincecum, Corey Hill, and Nolan Hill; his great-grandson, Oliver Slaughter; his sister-in-law, Mary Jo Christopher Lowrey, and husband, John; his niece-in-law, Meridith Lowrey Irwin, and husband, Andy; and his grand-niece-in-law, Aubrey Jolissant Holt, husband, Chris, and children, Peyton and Madelyn. His great, great grandfather was the famous early Texas pioneer and naturalist, Dr. Gideon Lincecum.Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Floral Haven Funeral Home, at 3:00pm, Friday, April 17, with burial to follow at the Floral Haven Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers will be the surviving members of Mr. Lincecum’s beloved A&M Class of 1952. Memorial donations may be made to the Association of Former Students Memorial Fund, Texas A&M University, 505 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas, 77840-2918, or to a charity of the giver’s choice.
