Robert William Peter's Obituary
Robert William Peter, 93, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Summerville, South Carolina. Born on December 30, 1930, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, to Raymond William Peter and Mary Elizabeth Schreiner Peter, Robert led a life marked by dedication and service.
He proudly served four years in the United States Navy as an airline mechanic during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, a period that paved the way for his esteemed career with American Airlines. Starting as a mechanic, he climbed the ranks to supervisor and retired 40 years later as a maintenance planner for the American Airlines 727 fleet.
Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was deeply involved in his community. He was a loyal member of the Tulsa chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), while his wife, Margaret, was actively engaged with the Tulsa chapters of the Daughters of the American Colonists (DAC) and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Robert's passions extended beyond his work and community involvement. He found immense joy in cheering for his beloved Ohio State athletics and supporting the Cleveland football and baseball teams.
Robert is survived by his three children, William Peter, Michael Peter, and Linda Kemper, along with eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother, Donald Peter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Peter, and his loving wife, Margaret Peter.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 12:30 PM in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, where friends and family will gather to honor his legacy of service, dedication, and love.
