Robert "Bob" James Russo's Obituary
Robert (Bob) James Russo beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to all passed away on April 7, 2024. Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and family.
Bob is survived by his wife Pat Russo, sons David (Mary) Russo and Dan (Laura) Russo, daughter Debbie Clary, grandchildren Meagan (Michael) Westhoff, Billy (Brittany) Russo, Aaron Russo, Matt Russo, Ashley (Brad) Gilpin and Austin Clary as well as nieces and a nephew. The loss we feel for him as a family is unsurmountable.
Bob was born on July 21,1940 to Vincent and Rose Russo in Elmira NY. It was in Elmira that Bob met the love of his life Pat. Bob and Pat were high school sweethearts, and they celebrated their 62 year anniversary on September 2 last year. Throughout those 62 years, Bob’s work took he and Pat to live in many places including Virginia, Delaware, Kentucky, Texas, California and even Bogota Columbia. During those years they raised their three children, loved taking them camping as a family, enjoyed playing golf and bridge, traveling to destinations near and far including 48 states and several countries. Over the years and travels, Bob and Pat have valued building lifelong friendships and spending time with family. As much as Bob and Pat treasured these things, they’ve always made time for the two of them, from their Saturday night date nights to weekend getaways, their relationship was always a priority.
Bob graduated from Virgina Tech in 1963 with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He had a very fulfilling career working for Occidental Oil and Gas (OXY) until his official retirement in 1999. Of course, we all know that Bob wasn't one to just sit around. Bob kept very active after retirement volunteering at Broken Arrow Neighbors for 20+ years, serving on the HOA Board of Directors for Forest Ridge and on a few occasions, he served as a Gallery Marshal at the PGA golf tournament. Bob led by example, had great faith, compassion for others, a servant's heart and was always willing to help those in need. He loved planting his garden each year, and his close neighbors enjoyed reaping the benefits of his gardening skills when bags of tomatoes and cucumbers showed up on their back porches.
His love and devotion for his family was tremendous. Sharing special time with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was when he was at his happiest. He cherished every moment celebrating his 50th & 60th Wedding Anniversaries taking cruises with all his loved ones.
Bob’s legacy and memories will live on through the Love of his family and friends.
