CSM Robert Dean Simons' Obituary
CSM Robert Dean Simons, 87, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away on July 31, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1935 to parents Robert Simons, and Cherokee Pettit.
Robert spent 34 years serving in the United States Army rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM) while serving in Germany, Korea and Vietnam as a field combat medic and instructor. He served at many posts throughout the United States where he later in his career crossed trained into the Infantry and was attached to the 95 infantry division as a drill sergeant and later a First Sergeant here in Oklahoma. Command Sergeant Major Simons last postings was as the Command Sergeant Major at Brooke Army Medical Center and as a Command Sergeant Major at the Academy of Health Sciences at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
Robert's civilian life was split between Broken Arrow,Oklahoma, and Weslaco Texas where he worked in real estate, accounting and finance.
Roberts' last years were spent in Broken Arrow at Bella Rose Senior Living and Prairie House Assisted Living Center. Robert was very involved with the church and served for many years as a deacon, music director, and volunteer at First Christian Church in Weslaco Texas. In his later years he spent many an hour spreading the word of God and teaching among those he met daily at Prairie House and the streets of Broken Arrow. He could always be found with his bible and a cup of coffee. With his walker or scooter he spread the word of God as much as he was able.
He is survived by his children David and wife Kristi Simons, Renata and husband David Kern, and Evan Crocker; grandchildren Cade Simons, Josh Gammon, Taylor and husband Hayden Patrick, and Hans Davis; and great grandchildren Carter Patrick, Letty Jo Patrick, and Otto Davis; along with a host of other family and friends that will forever miss him.
