Robert Leroy Smith's Obituary
Robert Leroy Smith, 78, of Afton, Oklahoma, passed away on March 16, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Leroy and Edna Smith.
Robert was a man who could fix just about anything. A skilled mechanic by trade and a natural problem-solver at heart, he never shied away from a challenge. In fact, he welcomed them. Whether it was tackling a difficult repair or trying something new “just for the heck of it,” Robert lived with a sense of adventure and determination that defined his life. He was known for making things happen and forging his own path, even playing a role in pioneering horizontal drilling during his career.
A true sportsman, Robert found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, baseball, and especially working with horses. Team penning was one of his passions, combining his competitive spirit with his love for riding. He carried that same drive and focus into every aspect of his life.
Above all, Robert deeply loved his family. He was a devoted father who took pride in teaching his sons not only practical, hands-on skills, but also important life lessons. His guidance, strength, and example will live on through them.
Robert will be remembered as a determined, adventurous, and capable man who never backed down from a challenge and always found a way forward. His legacy is one of hard work, curiosity, and love for those closest to him.
