Robert "Bob" Glenn Swofford's Obituary
Robert Glenn Swofford, age 92, left this world to be in the nearer presence of God on Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was born in Sand Springs on June 9, 1931, the first child of Lusian and Mae Goff Swofford. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1949 and from Wichita State University in 1966. He earned his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1993.
He and Marjorie Anne Wolfe were married on April 8, 1961, at First Presbyterian Church, Wichita.
Bob worked as Tulsa Refinery Coordinator for Sun Oil; for newspapers in Tulsa, Wichita, and Philadelphia; and for Tulsa Public Schools as a counselor. He earned the Oklahoma Counselor of the Year Award.
Places he lived include Sapulpa, OK; Tulsa, OK; Wichita, KS; Hays, KS; and Wallingford, PA.
An active volunteer, Bob worked as an officer, director, and/or leader in several organizations, including Tulsa Habitat for Humanity, the Wichita State University Alumni Association, AIChE, Kairos Ministry, and
Walk to Emmaus.
Survivors include his three sons and their wives: Mark and Hsinchun (Kuo), Taipei, Taiwan; Paul and Sandra (Garcia), Sugar Land, TX; John and Cynthia (Babb), Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren: Claudia, Racquel, Benjamin, and Evelyn; and his sister, Virginia (Swofford) Agnew Hall, Tulsa.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel of the Montereau community on Thursday, April 4, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to an organization close to his heart would be most appreciated.
