Robert Gene Twibell's Obituary
WIBELL- Robert Gene 80, passed away September 7, 2008 after a long battle with leukemia. He was born March 7, 1928 in Seminole, OK to Carl and May Twibell. He was the youngest of four children, survived by his sister Wilma Owen of Oklahoma City, OK. Bob is preceded in death by; brother Ed Twibell of Roswell, NM, and sister Betty Richardson of El Dorado, TX. Bob served in the US Navy stationed in Guam. After returning he attended Oklahoma Baptist University. He retired from Texaco Transportation and Trading in Wichita Falls, TX. as Marketing and Transportation Manager. He was known for his quick wit, integrity, and love of the Lord. His church family and golfing buddies were very important to him. He was an example to all he met and touched countless lives. This became apparent in the tremendous outpouring of love, respect, and prayers during his illness. He was able to be at home surrounded by his family during his final days, having spent much time at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston TX. He was active in First Baptist Church Tulsa serving as Deacon, and on multiple committees. A celebration memorial will be held Thursday at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Tulsa, under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home. Donations can be made to Oklahoma Lymphoma and Leukemia Society or First Baptist Church Samaritan’s Purse. The family will receive friends following the service in the parlor at First Baptist ChurchSurvived By: He is also survived by his loving wife Ruth of 58 years; two daughters, Robbie Twibell and Hollie Hawkins and her husband John Hawkins all of Tulsa; and his son Bryan Twibell of Dallas, TX. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren Zachary, Adam and Meredith Hawkins. He was the youngest of four children, survived by his sister Wilma Owen of Oklahoma City, OK.He is also survived by nieces and nepjews, John Twibell, Carl Twibell, Dan Richardson, Gaye Adams, Larry Owen and Carla Tellier.
