Roberta Bush's Obituary
Roberta Louise Pendleton Bush, 87, passed away at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her Family on Thursday May 8th, 2025 at 10:26 am. Roberta was born
October 23rd 1937 to Robert M Pendleton and Martha Lou Crane Pendleton in Hutchinson county of Borner, Texas North Plains Hospital. Roberta lost her mom and her grandma when she was
7 years old. She lived in an orphanage after that, which her father did not know as they discovered later in life when they reconnected. Roberta moved to Oklahoma in the late 50's,
finally settling at her long time residence in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she happily lived the last 3rd of her life.
Roberta went by many names over the years, obviously her given, but she was also known as Berta, Berta Lue, Bert (by her Husband), Mom, Granny Berta and Granny, Margarita Granny, and
"That Granny" (by her youngest great-granddaughter) the list is probably endless. However, regardless of her name she was always beautiful and self-sufficient even in her younger years.
She was very independent, and had a strong spirt driving her to success in all areas of her life. She was the Matriarch of her family and her foot prints left behind will surely grow
the most beautiful flowers.
A List of her accomplishments and achievements- what does this look like? Is it a plaque on a wall or something completely different? Some could argue her list is better than any plaques
or trophies. She graduated from a Texas High School. She was a wife, and married the love of her Life David Bush in May 1987. They had 33 married years together until he passed in
September 2020. Roberta believed death did not part them and that they will be celebrating their 38th anniversary together again this month. She was a mother of three amazing children
for which she was so proud. Roberta was grandma to seven grandchildren and she was a great-grandma to eight great-grandchildren ranging from 19 to 5 years old. She loved
her family fiercely and enjoyed family gatherings above all else.
She had a million friends, many whom honor her here today. She was infectious with her love and her laugh. Roberta never met a stranger and could get a hug from any server in any
restaurant. She loved a cocktail, hints one of her nicknames, but her favorite drinks were with her children. A quiet drink at the kitchen table with Bryan, at dinner with Shelley,
or around a campfire with Jeffery- These were the ones she lived for. Roberta loved her Lab's, having several with David over the years. She never missed an opportunity to bring them
home some yummy leftovers (even if she was in an almost 15 hour car ride coming home from Arizona). The truth is she loved all animals, and would fight tooth and nail for animals she
thought were mistreated, stop traffic to save one, and made sure all that lived in her neighborhood had plenty to eat. She loved her yard and lived to be in it. A big fan of roses and sunflowers, but really anything that bloomed she wanted in her yard, with one exception NO dandelions. She would give her right leg to get the plants in the ground (and almost did).
She was a shopper, and would spend $100 dollars to save $20 every time! Her family joked some retailers around town have already
noticed a drop in sales.
Roberta is survived by Her Son Bryan McCartney and his wife Frankie McCartney, Her Daughter Shelley McCartney Adams, and her youngest Son Jeff McCartney and his Partner Gayle Ford. Her
Lab Cheyenne who is moving to the country with Bryan. Her Grandchildren Brad and Courtney McCartney, Ashley and Charlie Marshall, Casey and Megan McCartney, Aeriel Barnes and Damon
Nichols, Zach and Natalie McCartney, Cody Adams, and Adam McCartney. Her beloved great-grandchildren Jaydon Marshall, Conor McCartney, Haven Davies, Bryce Marshall, Easton McCartney,
Joseph McCartney, Rhett McCartney, and Chevelle Nichols.
Roberta Joins Her loving husband David Bush and their Labs Chief, Cherokee, Sioux, and Crystal, Her Mother Martha and Father Robert, her Grandparents Eddie Wheat Pendleton, Flora E
Larimore, James L Crane, and Elle Louise Fegan.
Phrases she used overtime... "I Love you, sweet granddaughter", "Bradly gives the best hugs", "Casey James you crack me up", "Love me some Cody Boy", "I just love that Brycie", "It's 5 o'clock somewhere", and "I have the most handsome Grandson's and the prettiest Granddaughters". Recently she had started telling her daughter "I guess I was out to lunch".
Funeral services will be held in The Rose Chapel at Floral Haven on Friday May 16th at 11:00 am. An additional celebration of her life will be held at her house in her beloved back yard details will be shared at the service. The family wants to honor her love of dogs by collecting Dog food at her service in lieu of Flowers.
They "want to feed them all" in her name, because she would surely try.
