Rogena Harrison's Obituary
Rogena Marie (Evans) Harrison was born in Wellston, Oklahoma on April 23, 1933, the only child to Ruth and Stan Evans. She died in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 89 on it July 27, 2022.
She married Von Harrison, the love of her life April 22, 1951, and they celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Rogena received her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English; then earned her doctorate in Educational Administration from Tulsa University.
A lifelong educator, she taught high school English and business classes before becoming a college American Literature professor for many years at Neo A&M in Miami, Oklahoma.
After retirement, Rogena and Von lived in Yantis, Texas enjoying many days of fishing and boating on Lake Fork before she and Von moved to Broken Arrow, OK in 2009 to be closer to their only daughter.
Rogena is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Von Harrison, her daughter Theresa and Mark Williamson of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren: Angela and Billy Hayes of Tahlequah, OK; Jody and Whitney Rogers of Louisville, KY; and Mark Andrew and Delaina Williamson of Broken Arrow, OK; nine great grandchildren ranging in ages from 30 to ten months, and two great-great granddaughters.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Floral Haven's Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
