Roger Neil Alkire's Obituary
Roger Neil Alkire of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on January 17, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born to George and Fern Rudisaile Alkire on October 14, 1935 in Bronaugh, Missouri. After graduating from Bronaugh High School, Roger joined the Army and served for 3 years. He worked in several places, but he talked fondly of his time as a machinist at Gardner-Denver and stocker at Drysdale’s Warehouse. He enjoyed the costume parties each year at Drysdale’s, often winning awards for his creative costumes. Roger will always be remembered for being able to fix anything. He loved puzzles and problem solving, which lead to one of his patents. Roger designed a special lever for a forklift. He was a true history buff, especially Civil War. You would often find Roger in the garden or flower beds, on the front porch, or visiting neighbors. He was a true gentleman and showed kindness and compassion to everyone he met. He also had an excellent sense of humor and a love for buttermilk pie and maple long johns. Roger is survived by his sister-in-law Donna Alkire of Plano, Texas; another sister-in-law Merrilyn Martinez of Cortez, Colorado; niece Ronda Smeddon; niece Linda Willis and her husband Jeff; niece Julie Duncan, her husband David, and their children Nathan and his wife Emily, Timothy, Samuel, Jesse, and Brittany; and nephew Ken Merchant, his wife Kristi, and their daughters Kelsie and Kailyn. He is preceded in death by his wife and true love Kerrilyn; brother Marion Alkire; nephew Rodney Hughes; and brother-in-law Jesse Merchant. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2018, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Visitation Suites, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family invites you to the funeral service on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
