Roger Albert Mistak's Obituary
Roger Albert Mistak, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. He was born on September 18, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frank Mistak and Anne (Scieszka).
Roger met the love of his life, Judy, in Chicago before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, they reconnected and married in September 1969. The couple lived in several places across the country before settling in Stillwater, Oklahoma—knowing it was the right place to raise their family. Roger quickly grew to love the friendly spirit of the people in Oklahoma and appreciated that the state's climate allowed him to enjoy his favorite pastimes—gardening, hunting, and fishing—nearly year-round. It quickly became home in every sense of the word.
Later in life, Roger and Judy relocated to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, for Roger’s next job opportunity. What began as a career move soon became the start of a new chapter filled with lasting friendships, meaningful routines, and countless family memories. Over the past 21 years, they made Broken Arrow their home—planting roots in a neighborhood they loved, welcoming visits from their grandchildren, and becoming familiar faces in their church and community.
Roger was a devoted and loving family man whose wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength shaped the lives of everyone around him. He was hardworking and thoughtful, with a natural intelligence and a deep sense of loyalty. His unwavering character and steady presence made him someone others could always count on, and his sense of humor and kindness left a lasting impression wherever he went.
He found joy in simple pleasures—family vacations, backyard BBQs, and the laughter of his grandchildren. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and took pride in cultivating his garden, earning the affectionate title of “master gardener.” He was also a passionate OSU football fan who cheered on the Cowboys through every season.
A man of strong faith, Roger was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Broken Arrow. He was deeply committed to serving others through organizations that meant a great deal to him, including the VFW, Elks Lodge, and Marine Corps Reunion. For more than 20 years, he served as quartermaster of the Glencoe VFW with dedication and humility.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judy Mistak; daughters Rachel Kilschautzky (Torsten) and Camille Adams (Albert); sister Gloria Berner (Victor); grandchildren Alexander and Anastasia Kilschautzky; niece Christina McCarte; and many extended family members and close friends.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Roger is a better person because of him. His love, character, and example will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. As his family reflects on the life he built with Judy, their song says it best: through all the years and memories, they were truly “Happy Together.” And in the joyful spirit he brought to every gathering, one phrase will always echo in their hearts:
“Who has more fun than we do?”
“NOBODY!”
