Roger Morris Stark's Obituary
Roger Morris Stark passed away on December 20, 2016. Roger was born October 1, 1920, in Dover, Ok.He attended school in Woodward, Ok and graduated from Woodward High School. He was active in Boy Scouts and achieved rank of Eagle Scout. He joined the Tulsa Corps of Engineers during construction of the three-mile long Ft. Supply Dam in Northwest Oklahoma. Roger served in WWII from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army/Air Corps, Pacific Theater, and was promoted to Captain working in Air Force Headquarters.He graduated from OSU in Stillwater, Ok, with a degree in Civil Engineering. He joined Cities Service Co. in Bartlesville, OK, and was manager of several multi million dollar projects in the U.S. and Brazil. Roger was active in the National Society of Professional Engineers, Pipe liners Club of Tulsa, Alpha Sigma Eta, Chi Epsilon, Phi Beta Kappa, Tulsa Tennis Club, and was president of the American Association of Cost Engineers. Roger enjoyed playing the piano and could play over 200 pieces without music. He played for his church and friends at his residence.He was a Christian and chaired many church departments wherever he lived. What he enjoyed more than anything was helping others. For 15 years he was a Sunday school teacher for high-school youth. He loved working with his hands and could fix almost anything.Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Stark of Woodward, Ok. where his father was Mayor for 8 years; his brother, Dr. Francis C. Stark of College Park, Maryland; his first wife, Shirley Jean Porter, who he fell in love with while accompanying her while she played the violin and was married to for 51 years; and his second wife, Virginia McKinney of Tulsa, Ok.Roger is survived by his two loving daughters, Sheryl J. Underwood and husband Joe of Guthrie, OK and Suzanne Myers and husband Kenneth of Broken Arrow, OK; his two dearly loved granddaughters – Carrie S. Underwood and Sherry Myers, two Grandsons – David Myers and Terry Myers and wife Cyndi; his fourteen precious greatgrandchildren – Baylor and Addison Nelson, Emma and Anna Myers, Rachel, Luke, Emily, Abby, and Cade Myers, Brittainy Campbell, Braden and Meagan Bowman, and Sarah and Madison Anderson; his four dear great-great grandchildren – Kynzleigh and Kambree Slawson, Alexander Campbell, and Hayden Bowman and many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention, but who were very important to him.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:00PM at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S Harvard Ave; Tulsa, Oklahoma 74135. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00PM at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodard, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home, Floral Shop, Crematory & Memorial Gardens, 6500 S 129th E Avenue; Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012.In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S.
