Ron Carter's Obituary
Ron Carter, age 71, went to be with his Lord on Thursday August 2, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with kidney cancer.Ron was born in Dallas, TX on February 9, 1947 to Jean Paul Carter and Lily Belle Carter (Dusek) and was an only child. He graduated from Richardson High School in 1965. On December 23, 1966 he married his wife, Sharon Carter (Condray). He graduated from North Texas State University in 1969 with a bachelors degree in insurance. Ron and Sherry lived in Denton, TX then Galveston, TX and finally settled in Tulsa, OK in 1978. He worked for several insurance agencies before joining the Arrow Group where he remained until his retirement.He was a member of several organizations throughout his life including Kiwanis, Home Builders Association, Dale Carnegie, Toastmasters, Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement. As a member of Kiwanis he enjoyed volunteering as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny from 1980 – 2006. He was youth leader at Good Shepard Lutheran Church for 5 years.Ron was an avid sailor and built his own sailboat (the puddle duck) at the age of 66. He was also an enthusiastic square dancer from 1979-1983 and then again from 2013-2017 with the Conroe Country Cousins.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Carter; daughter Kristen Reed and son-in-law Ryan Reed and two granddaughters: Lilah Noelle Reed (Age 8) and Norah Belle Reed (Age 3)A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 12:30 at Floral Haven Funeral Home at 6500 S. 129th E. Ave Broken Arrow, OK 74012.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kiwanis Children’s Fund (kiwanis.org/childrensfund) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org)
