Ronald Gene Cherry's Obituary
Ronald Gene Cherry, 77, of Broken Arrow passed away on August 21, 2023. He was born October 28, 1945 in Howe, Oklahoma to Emmett “Monk” Cherry and Eunice Cherry. He moved to Broken Arrow in 1949 and has lived here ever since. He played football for Broken Arrow and coached his son and grandson in Broken Arrow also. He was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. Ron loved children and cared for many of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was a longtime fan of OU football and softball and loved watching his granddaughter, Abby, play softball. At any given time if you visited his house, you might find him watching an old western. Ron is preceded in death by his parents; Four brothers – Donald, Bob, Randy and Roger; sister, Judy Sparks; son, Clint Cherry; and great nephew Amos Cherry. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cherry; sons Todd Cherry and Kevin Lewis; daughter Roseanne Rovang; brothers Jim, Larry and Rick Cherry; 8 grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ron’s Celebration of Life will be 10 AM, Tuesday August 29 at Floral Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude’s at www.stjude.org.
