Ronald James Cox's Obituary
Ronald James Cox, age 86, cast his final line at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa OK on January 28, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and bass angler, he was never more at home than he was on the water at first light, chasing a largemouth bass. He leaves behind a tacklebox full of stories, a boatload of friends, and a special room lined with handmade fishing lures - which he often shared with other enthusiastic fishermen. Ron's witty sense of humor will be missed by all.
Ron was born on October 26, 1939 in Vinita OK to William Evans Cox and Lola Irene Rountree Cox. He attended elementary school in Vinita, and later moved to Pryor OK. A 1957 graduate of Pryor High School, Ron subsequently attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah OK. He completed his education at The University of Oklahoma in May, 1962, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree. In November, 2001, the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy granted Ron a certificate as a Doctor of Pharmacy. His professional career included Owner of Ron's Pharmacy in Broken Arrow OK, Co-Owner of Honey Creek Pharmacy in Grove OK, Staff Pharmacist at Couch Pharmacy, Tulsa OK, Kirk's Drug, Muskogee OK and Inola Drug, Inola OK.
Ron is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 41 years; his children Dallas Cox (Christie) of Phoenix AZ, Dr Dana Terrell (Todd) of Tulsa, and Dina Branam (Ron) of Grove OK; sister Barbara Weaver (Dr Richard Martin) of Pryor OK; grandchildren Austin Cox (Ashley) of Laurens SC, Annalise Cox of Chandler AZ, Dillon Cox (fiancée Grace) of Dallas TX, Dr Ashlyn Terrell of Coppell TX and Kaitlyn Rada (Matthew) of Tulsa OK; great granddaughters Millie and Olivia Cox of Laurens SC; many loving family members including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friends.
