Ronald Jewell's Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Jewell, 77 of Hominy, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born February 3, 1942 in Coffeyville, Kansas to his parents, Jimmie Fred Jewell and Mildred Irene Buster Jewell. He married the love of his life, Betty Jewell on February 6, 1971 and they shared in over 32 beautiful years together before her passing in 2003.Ron grew up in and around Coffeyville, Kansas. During his junior year of high school, his family moved to Chula Vista, CA. Ron graduated high school from Chula Vista High School in 1960. After he graduated, Ron enlisted in the Air Force and served two years in the service. During his service time, Ron’s parents had moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. And Ron soon followed. It was in Tulsa where Ron met the love of his life, Betty. They were married on Feb. 6, 1971 in Tulsa, OK. Ron had three sons from his previous marriage and soon he and Betty added three more sons and one daughter. Ron and Betty experienced heart break early into their marriage when they lost two of their infant sons. But instead of letting that heartache tear them, it made their love stronger. Ron and Betty spent 32 years in love together until Betty passed away. Ron loved to take his family camping. Most frequently, they would camp at Walnut Creek State Park. He enjoyed making a campfire and sitting around the fire drinking coffee and talking to his family. They spent many weekends camping at Walnut Creek until he and Betty moved to the Prue area in 2001. Ron loved being a Papa to his grandchildren. He loved helping them and of course giving them life advice whether they wanted to hear it or not. His grandchildren would often seek his help in the middle of working on their vehicles. And he was always quick to help them.He is survived by one daughter, Angel Wilkinson and her husband Kenneth of Hominy, Oklahoma; three sons, Donald Jewell and his wife Lora of Hominy, Oklahoma, James Jewell and his wife Ronnie of New Port News, Virginia and Joe Jewell of Cody, Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren, Skyler, Jacob, Chloe, Sophie, Braden, Lauryn, Hunter, Heath, Michael, Anna, Jessica, Emily, Amber, Brianna and Bethany; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Mildred Jewell; his wife Betty Jewell; three sons, Ronald, Scott and Johnathan Jewell; and two brothers, Mike and Sam Jewell.Ron will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Prue, 654 Lake Drive, Prue, Oklahoma 74060.The family has requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church Prue, P.O. Box 180, Prue, Oklahoma 74060 in Ronald’s honor.
