Ronald Weldon McDonald's Obituary
Ronald Weldon McDonald, age 70, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, after a long battle with cancer at Saint John Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on April 8, 1947 in Decatur, Texas to John W. McDonald and Gwendolyn Amelia Chrestman. On April 15, 1972, he married Nancy Ann DeWald. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve (1969-1975) and the Missouri Army National Guard (1977-1979). He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served at the Church of Saint Benedict as a Catechist for CCD, Catechist and sponsor for RCIA; ‘At Large Member’, Vice President and President of Parish Council; Vice President and President of Men’s Club; and also joyfully served as an Usher. He was also a member of professional organizations including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Design Drafting Association International where he served as Board of Director, Vice President, and President of Executive Board. Ron worked at McDonnell Douglas as a Draftsman (1965-1970), Pullman Trailmobile as a Design Draftsman (1971-1981), and T.D. Williamson Inc. as Senior Engineer Technician from 1981 until his retirement in September 2012. Ron lived life to the fullest and enjoyed fishing, golf, baseball, spending time with his family, and drinking cold beer with good friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy; son Kelly (Christina); daughters Amy (Ben), Becky (Aaron), and Patricia (Jordan): Grandchildren, Julianna, Braden, Audrey, Charlotte, Vivienne, Lauren, and Ronnie; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Church of Saint Benedict, 2200 W Ithica St., Broken Arrow. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ron’s name to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
