Ronald Boyd Mitchell's Obituary
Ronald "Ron" Mitchell, affectionately known as "Buffalo," "Buff," and "Papa," was born on July 4, 1933, to Boyd and Gertrude Mitchell. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren, on December 31, 2024. He was 91 years old.
Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Shirley Mitchell, who preceded him in death after 65 years of marriage. Together, they built a warm and nurturing family filled with love and laughter. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Gertrude, and his daughter, Pam Sanders.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Mitchell, his daughter, Kim Ford, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A man of many talents, Ron enjoyed a rich array of hobbies, including playing minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, golf, cooking, bowling, and gardening. His athletic spirit shone brightly during his service in the Army, where he played on the winning championship basketball team in Panama.
After a fulfilling career at Rockwell, where he dedicated 30 years to significant projects, including the NASA contract for the Endeavor space shuttle and the B1B Bomber, Ron continued to inspire those around him with his passion for life and family.
Ron’s legacy of love, strength, and dedication to family and country will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends, who remember him as a kind and generous man with an infectious spirit.

A public visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, located at 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
Those wishing to send flowers may do so by contacting Floral Designs by Floral Haven at (918) 459-1525. Independent florists are kindly asked to deliver flowers directly to Floral Haven Funeral Home by 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2025, to ensure proper display for Ron's visitation.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Ron's life will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, located at 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, with Chaplain Doug Lawson officiating. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will be in attendance to render Military Honors in remembrance of Ron and his service to his country.
Interment will follow at 11:00 AM, immediately after conclusion of the chapel service at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Veteran's Field of Honor, Phase III.
