Roscoe "Ross" Abney Brewer, Jr.'s Obituary
Ross A Brewer Jr, age 90, formerly of Tulsa, OK passed away on August 26th, 2017 in Kingwood, TX. Born May 24th, 1927 in Oklahoma City, OK, he was the son of the late Ross A. Brewer Sr. and Jennie Mae (Carpenter) Brewer. Ross attended high school at NW Classen High in Oklahoma City and upon graduation joined the Army and was stationed in South Korea. After returning to the states Ross attended the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.In 1951, Ross began a long career in the oil business working for Amerada Petroleum Corporation in Monument, NM and met his future wife, Joneele Penhall in Hobbs, NM. Ross and Joneele were married in Clinton, OK on June 6, 1953. His career continued in Tulsa, OK where he was employed by CE-NATCO and later by CE-Seaplex in Houston, TX, retiring in 1987. He relished spending time with friends, family and especially the time he could spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hobbies that he enjoyed during his lifetime were collecting stamps and coins. During his time in Tulsa, OK he was the treasurer then later president of the Tulsa Amateur Hockey Association. After moving to Kingwood, TX Ross was actively involved in the Bear Branch Trails Association of Kingwood where he assisted in programs to keep the walking and cycling trails clean and safe for all those who used it. Ross and Joneele have actively donated to various charities over the years including the Houston Food Bank, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch and MD Anderson just to name a few.Ross is survived by his wife of 64 years Joneele, his sister Betty Winneberger of Menifee, CA and his three children Mark and wife Sammie of Tulsa, OK, Vicki Allsop and fiancé Rick Butare of Hillsborough, NJ and Ross Brewer of Rhome, TX. Mr and Mrs Brewer have four grandchildren Victoria Long of Triangle, VA, Stephanie Brogan of Bedford, TX, Davis Allsop of Los Angeles, CA and Briana Keeton of Centennial, CO. They have three great grandchildren; Owen and Zoe, children of Stephanie and Daniel Brogan and, Atlas, child of Victoria and Jamie Long.In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations that will assist those displaced by hurricane Harvey to the Houston Food Bank at www.houstonfoodbank.org/donate/ or the JJ Watt foundation in Houston, TX at jjfoundation.org.The service will be conducted by Pastor Emeritus William C. Mason of Asbury United Methodist Church where the Brewer family attended while living in Tulsa.A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017, 12:30 PM at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
