Rose Ann Simmons' Obituary
Rose Ann was born February 18, 1925 to Elmer and Annie Nurnberger in Velva, North Dakota. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Albert, Alec and David. She is survived by her sisters Margaret Wadsworth and Annie Rowe, and her 5 children, Patricia Allen, Steven Simmons, Barbara McLaughlin Charles Lee Simmons Jr. and Brian Simmons, 13 grandchildren,10 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose Ann and her family moved to Bremerton WA in 1942, where she worked in the Naval Shipyard as a machine press operator during WWII. Here she met her soulmate, Charles Lee Simmons. The couple married on October 30,1943 and moved to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1946, where they raised their five children. Rose Ann was active in volunteering including President of the PTO at Springdale Elementary, scorekeeper for her son’s and daughter’s little league teams and was a life long contributor at Second Presbyterian Church in Tulsa. She was a loving wife for 50 plus years. After Charles passing in January of 1994, Rose Ann continued to support her husband’s legacy through her involvement with the Pearl Harbor Survivors. She was a warm loving person whose sole focus was to take care of her husband and family. She enjoyed cooking and hosting large family gatherings. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to garden. She was an avid bird watcher and could always be found enjoying a hot cup of tea She will be missed by all who knew her and especially her family.
