Rosemary Callen's Obituary
Rosemary Elaine Gartin Callen, known to most as Rosie, left this life at the age of 77 in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, November 30, 2018. She died from complications of COPD. Rosemary was born December 25, 1940 at the Yocom Hospital in Chariton, Iowa, to Dewey P. Gartin and Hazel S. Watson Gartin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Lewis Dean “Bill” Gartin. Two sisters still living are Justine Olivia Gartin Abrahamson, Betty Jean Gartin Marker. She attended Lucas County Rural Schools and was taught her first year in school by her older sister. She graduated from Chariton High School with the Class of 1959. She attended the University of Missouri for one year, and later graduated from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa with an associate degree in business administration. June 18, 1960, she married Jack Leroy Callen in the Catholic Church in Vandalia, Missouri. To this union one son was born, Jack Leroy Callen II. Son Jack is married to Chris Forselius. They have one daughter, Kinsey Jade Callen. Rosemary’s grandparents were John William Gartin, Parapa Rose Lynch Gartin and Frederick Frank Watson, Mary Ann Sharp Watson. Rosemary was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held 3PM, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation. She was exceedingly proud of her son, his family and all other family members including siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and loved each of them. She leaves a thank you to each of them for etching memories in her heart.
